Robert B. Yules

Attorney Yules, a native of Manchester, Connecticut, received his post-secondary education in Ohio, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Ohio Wesleyan University and a law degree from The University of Toledo’s College of Law. After completing a legal internship in the Prosecutor’s Office of the City of Toledo, he returned to Connecticut to practice law. Attorney Yules is admitted to practice in Connecticut (1978) and New York (1992) and all federal and state courts in those jurisdictions.

Robert’s first full time position was as a city attorney for the culturally diverse City of New Britain, Connecticut. As city attorney, he represented the City and its police, fire and civil service commissions in court during a state investigation of promotion rigging in the New Britain Police and Fire Departments by members of the City’s Civil Service Department.

After several years with New Britain’s Law Department, Robert worked for the next five years for two law firms in Hartford, Connecticut, trying products liability, construction defect and other civil cases. At this time the two most notable cases that he was involved with were the Hartford Civic Center roof collapse case and the MDC’s Reservoir #6 construction project. During this period he authored several widely cited journal articles on products liability. See, Yules, “An Analysis of Connecticut’s New Product Liability Law,” 56 Connecticut Bar Journal 269; Yules, “Defenses in a Connecticut Products Liability Case,” 57 Connecticut Bar Journal 441.

In 1984, Robert joined his late father, Herman Yules, in the practice of law with the formation of Yules & Yules, LLC, a boutique firm for the representation of clients in products liability, transportation, medical malpractice, insurance and workers’ compensation cases at 100 Constitution Plaza in Hartford. As his assignments increased, Mr. Yules continued to publish products liability articles and to speak at seminars throughout the United States.

In 1987, the first edition of Connecticut Trial Practice, co-authored by Robert and John R. FitzGerald, was published by West Group, the largest U.S. legal publisher. The 600 page treatise took seven years to write and is a practice and procedural manual for the Connecticut bench and bar for trying civil cases. In 2001, Robert authored the second edition. A prolific writer, Robert’s publications appear under a separate tab on the www.Yuleslaw.com Web site.

A frequent lecturer at national legal seminars, Robert has spoken at seminars on products liability, medical devices, medical malpractice, transportation law and claims handling procedures sponsored by the American Bar Association, American Trucking Associations, Connecticut Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Health Industry Manufacturers Association, Transportation Lawyers Association and the Trucking Industry Defense Association, among others. A complete listing of Robert’s seminar presentations appear under a separate tab on the www.Yuleslaw.com Web site.

As a result of his interest in finance and wealth management, Robert earned a certificate in wealth management from New York University’s School of Continuing & Professional Studies in 2007, one of two such programs in the United States. The firm’s wealth management practice is the outgrowth of Robert’s interest in that field.

Robert is a member of the numerous bar associations, including the American Association for Justice (member 1984-2008); American Bar Association (member 1978-2008); Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL); Connecticut Bar Association (CBA)(member House of Delegates, 1979-1986; Committee of Professional Ethics, 1993-2000); Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA); Defense Research Institute (DRI); International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) (member 1989-2009); New York State Bar Association (NYSB); Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA); and Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA).
